Google likes old websites, it "trusts" them. Meaning googles trust factor is high. When redesigning an old website be sure to take into account content structure and link value. If google finds links with no content it will reindex. You dont want that as it will bring down the organic SEO.
Also be sure and plan landing pages for the top three overview issues concerning the product or service with corresponding ad word campaigns.
